What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form including the IP address and user agent string to help spam detection.

IP addresses are removed after 60 days to allow for spam fighting and troubleshooting.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Please see the Gravatar privacy policy for information. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

While you visit our site, we will track products you’ve viewed which we will use to show you products you’ve recently viewed.

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site. Please see our cookie policy for more information.

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store. When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide your name and email address. This information will be used to:

  • Send you information about your order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 5 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name and email address.

User registration and accounts

We do not accept user registration on our website.

This website uses Google analytics to help analyse how visitors use this site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form including information about how visitors arrive at this website, where they are from and the pages they visit. No personally identifiable information, including your IP address, is collected about you unless you explicitly submit that information when you place an order or leave a comment or review on this website.

The anonymous information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is transmitted to Google. Please see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services for information on how Google uses data collected from Google Analytics.

You can completely opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google browser add-on.

Who on our team has access to your data

There are two members of our team – the website owner and website administrator – who have access to the information you provide us.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service and by a moderator.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfil orders, process refunds and support you.

Who we share your data with

We accept payments through PayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total, billing information and dealing with complaints and queries relating to such payments.

Please see the PayPal privacy policy for more details.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment or a review, the comment/review and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or reviews on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

We will not without your express consent provide your personal information to any third parties for the purpose of direct marketing. We will not disclose your personal information to any other party other than in accordance with this privacy policy and in the circumstances detailed below:

  • in the event that we sell any or all of our business to the buyer;
  • where we are legally required by law to disclose your personal information;
  • to further fraud protection and reduce the risk of fraud.

How we protect your data

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. Of course, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

We accept payment only through the PayPal payment gateway so we do not store any of your payment details.

We also do not accept account registration so do not store anything except in the event of placing an order and giving us your name and email address.
